Important Circular 230 Guidance: Should I Drop My Disclaimer?

Last month, the Internal Revenue Service announced new rules regarding Circular 230 disclaimers. While the Treasury and the IRS expect that these amendments will eliminate the use of a Circular 230 disclaimer in email and other documents, from a professional liability standpoint it may be prudent to continue use of a revised disclaimer.

ACE 2014 Award Recipient Recognized

Ronda Lawson, AAAPM, Director of Operations for The Henry Levy Group in Oakland, California, received the Association for Accounting Administration's ACE (Achievement, Commitment, Excellence) Award at the organization's June 2014 National Practice Management Conference in San Diego.

During the awards presentation, held in conjunction with the Conference's Fiesta, Norm Saale, AAAPM, outgoing Association President, noted Ronda's skills and qualities managing The Henry Levy Group's practice, to include facilities management, marketing, business development, client relations, billing, A/R, collections, finance and accounting, HR, recruiting and more.  She is the most senior employee next to the partner group and is a key member of the senior leadership team.


AAA Presents Distinguished Service Awards at NPMC

The Association for Accounting Administration presented three Distinguished Service Awards during its National Practice Management Conference in San Diego in late June 2014.  This is the highest honor the Association bestows for those leading the efforts to elevate firm management throughout the profession.  These individuals have made an outstanding contribution to AAA and the profession and have served as a resource and example to our current and future members. The award is awarded at the discretion of the board of directors and only seven individuals have received the award prior to 2014 in the Association's 30 years.


2014 National MAP Survey Closes on August 31

The Association for Accounting Administration participates along with state societies as a supporter of the AICPA PCPS/TSCPA 2014 National MAP Survey.  This year's survey will be fielded until August 31, 2014 with results available to participants in October 2014.  There is no cost to participate in the survey and all participants will receive a summary report. More comprehensive reports will be available for a fee.  The survey is estimated to take one to three hours to complete and the design allows participants to complete the survey in more than one sitting.  Click here to access the survey along with a worksheet, FAQs and a Quick Start Guide.
