Course Description

Firm leaders are facing challenges in accelerating the development of their workforce due to a new generation of workers and the increasing complexity of work. This has led to the recognition of the need for dedicated professionals to organize and coordinate a learning environment for their employees. Some firms have distributed this role to existing positions, while others have hired dedicated Learning and Development (L&D) professionals. With this expanded role, those leaders are left to evaluate the effectiveness of this new responsibility. How will value be established? How will success be measured? This presentation will delve into the role of L&D professionals and how they can demonstrate their contributions to the firm's health and growth. We will discuss the importance of clear expectations and accurate measures, while fitting into the firm’s existing rhythms and cycles. In addition, we will hear of the experiences of others in the position to provide a broad understanding of how to showcase value.

Presenter and Moderator Bios

Presenter: Guy Gage, LPC, Partners Coach, Inc.

Guy Gage, MA, LPC, is a licensed counselor, with an emphasis on human performance improvement. He has trained, coached and consulted with CPAs for over 25 years, guiding them to increase their effectiveness and career satisfaction.

Along the way, Guy spent almost 8 years in a 4-office accounting firm, which gives him a realistic understanding of what it’s like inside a CPA firm. He quotes, “Before I joined the firm, I had all kinds of easy solutions to firm problems. Now, I appreciate the complexity of the issues firm leaders face. It’s not as easy as I thought.” Using his knowledge of human behavior and motivation, his programs and consulting deal effectively with the hard concerns that leaders face.

Presenter: Susan Stutzel, CPA, Partners Coach, Inc.

Susan Stutzel, CPA, joined the PartnersCoach® team in 2019 and has contributed greatly to the firm’s coaching and training programs. She launched her career in a national firm as a young accountant. After a few years, she took advantage of working in a small, family-owned business, and then for a Fortune 500 company.

Being in the private sector made her aware of her love of public accounting and joined a small regional firm, serving clients and growing the firm. Her real love was training and mentoring staff, which led her to obtain an Executive Coaching certificate. She is a perfect fit for what PartnersCoach is all about.
