Course Description

Participants of this 60-minute moderated discussion will discover ways to effectively partner with owners, better manage firm cross currents, facilitate change, evolve the Firm Manager role for increased impact and respect, support line partner transition, and participate in firm mergers and acquisitions. Join consultant Ira Rosenbloom and firm management experts Ginny Fedrich, PAFM and Larry Sheftel, PHR, SHRM-CP, PAFM as they share tips to enhance your perceived value in the firm, along with effective ways to manage and exceed expectations.

Presenter and Moderator Bios
Ginny Fedrich, PAFM, Director of Operations, Gelman LLP, CPAs and Advisors
Ginny is the Director of Operations at Gelman LLP, CPAs and Advisors with over 30 years of firm management experience. Ginny is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the firm. She is involved in facilities management, budgeting, human resources, strategic planning, finance, technology, billing, marketing, and vendor management as well as other duties. Ginny works in unison with the firm’s managing partner and is a member of the firm’s executive team. Ginny served on the Executive Board of the CPA Firm Management Association (CPAFMA) and is Past Vice President of the Founding Board of the Southern California Chapter of CPAFMA. She is also the 2012 recipient of the CPAFMA Firm Manager of the Year Award. Ginny holds the designation of PAFM – Professional Accounting Firm Manager. Ginny has previously presented at CCH User Conferences, AICPA Prac Tech Conference, and the Massachusetts Society of CPAs Practice Management Conference, speaking in the area of Firm Management.

Larry Sheftel, PHR, SHRM-CP, PAFM, Vice President Human Resources, Aprio
Larry brings almost two decades of human resources and operations experience to Aprio. As Aprio’s vice president of human resources, Larry provides a wealth of technical understanding on internal process development. He also helps pioneer and implement new methodologies and ways of thinking within the firm. In his role at Aprio, Larry directly supports employee satisfaction by implementing programs and processes to instill company culture, improve employee engagement and encourage life/work balance. By helping the firm’s employees thrive, Larry ensures that Aprio clients get the best service from the best people. Larry has established himself as a thought leader within his professional network and earned top accolades for his work in HR, including being the nominated recipient for the “HR Excellence Award” from the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM). In addition to serving on the board of directors of CPA Firm Management Association (CPAFMA), Larry is also president of the Atlanta Chapter of FMA and has served as the scholarship chairman for SHRM Atlanta. Larry has been recognized for leading efforts for other awards in the workplace, including “Atlanta’s Best Places to Work” by the Atlanta Journal Constitution and the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

Ira Rosenbloom, CPA (LR). Chief Operating Executive, Optimum Strategies, LLC
Ira is the chief operating executive (COE) of Optimum Strategies, LLC, a niche CPA practice succession and management engineering firm that specializes in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), succession plans, and other transition measures that focus on M&A-readiness, realistic valuation and market expectations, deal structuring, and integration processes designed to maximize client and staff retention. A well-known and respected leader in the accounting community across the mid-Atlantic region, Ira is known for his ability to motivate internally and externally for strong bottom line results. Before founding Optimum Strategies in 2010, Ira served as managing partner of a mid-sized regional firm, practice director for a national firm, and as regional partner in a national CPA M&A advisory firm, among other positions. He has served in important professional leadership positions as a member of the AICPA Management of Accounting Practice Committee and the Board of Trustees of the New Jersey Society of CPAs (NJSCPA). In demand as a speaker and author, Ira regularly contributes to industry and general business associations, publications, and websites, including MACPA, PICPA. VSCPA, Accounting Today and Philadelphia Business Journal.

Delivery System

  • All programs are delivered using the Zoom platform.
  • Confirmations will include log-in instructions.
  • Participants are able to participate using any device with an Internet connect (if the device does not have speakers, the participant can also dial-in) or they can participate with audio only by dialing in.
  • All registrants will receive a link to the MAPCast’s recording by email within 48 business hours of event’s conclusion.
  • There will be assistance available to help with technical and connectivity issues up to 10 minutes prior to the start of the presentation.

Registration

All registration is done on-line with the names and email addresses of each individual guest. Log-in details will be emailed to all registrants approximately 1-2 days prior to each session.

Refund Policy

CPAFMA will not issue refunds for MAPCasts. If a registrant is unable to participate in the MAPCast and sends written notice to info@cpafma.org 48 hours prior to the session, a credit will be provided for a future MAPCast. Alert the CPAFMA staff member monitoring the MAPCast if technical difficulties are encountered and technical support will be provided to eliminate problems with future MAPCasts.

Additional Information

Live participation is required for CPE credit and polling questions must be answered to show active participation. All registrants will receive an email following the session with links to the slides and/or handouts, and a link to the MAPCast recording (unless otherwise stated). If you are unable to participate in the live session, you can still watch the recorded session, but you will not be eligible for CPE credits.
