Course Description

Uncovering hidden – and not so hidden – biases has become a hot topic throughout corporate America. We all recognize the many areas around bias that affect our world – but what are we to do about it? This MAPCast will explore the subtle nuances around how men and women interact which can result in a dysfunction that some describe as the “gender gap”. Our goal is to help participants understand why these gaps exist and start to bridge them.

Topics to be explored during this 30-minute session include:

• Motivation – is very different between the sexes, causing a result in different, often conflicting behaviors.
• Gender Communication Differences - women and men often see and hear things differently. They also differ in the way they communicate and influence.
• Gender Differences in Leadership Styles - because men and women differ psychologically and in the way in which they communicate and influence, they also differ in their leadership styles.
• Sexism / Abuse/ Bullying – for years, there have been complaints about mistreatment of an employee by one or more other employees, as defined by conduct that is perceived to be threatening, humiliating, or intimidating – and may include accusations of work sabotage or verbal abuse.

Presenter and Moderator Bios
Lisa Tierney, CLSC is an award-winning marketing consultant and a certified life strategies coach with nearly twenty years of experience in serving multi-partner professional services providers across the U.S. She has provided webinars, teleconferences, workshops and keynote presentations for such organizations as the Association for Accounting Marketing, the International Coach Federation, the PICPA, the CPA Firm Management Association, the Institute of Management Accountants, to name just a few. She is a member of the CPA Leadership Institute's Leadership Panel and an active member of the International Coach Federation. She has been published in numerous publications, including Accounting Today, Legal Intelligencer, and the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Delivery System

• All programs are delivered using the Zoom platform.
• Confirmations will include log-in instructions.
• Participants are able to participate using any device with an Internet connect (if the device does not have speakers, the participant can also dial-in) or they can participate with audio only by dialing in.
• All registrants will receive a link to the MAPCast’s recording by email within 48 business hours of event’s conclusion.
• There will be assistance available to help with technical and connectivity issues up to 10 minutes prior to the start of the presentation.

Registration

All registration is done on-line with the names and email addresses of each individual guest. Log-in details will be emailed to all registrants approximately 1-2 days prior to each session.

Refund Policy

CPAFMA will not issue refunds for MAPCasts. If a registrant is unable to participate in the MAPCast and sends written notice to info@cpafma.org 48 hours prior to the session, a credit will be provided for a future MAPCast. Alert the CPAFMA staff member monitoring the MAPCast if technical difficulties are encountered and technical support will be provided to eliminate problems with future MAPCasts.

Additional Information

Live participation is required for CPE credit and polling questions must be answered to show active participation. All registrants will receive an email following the session with links to the slides and/or handouts, and a link to the MAPCast recording (unless otherwise stated). If you are unable to participate in the live session, you can still watch the recorded session, but you will not be eligible for CPE credits.
