Course Description
The process of maintaining client relationships and providing services can expose an accounting firm to litigation. This course will discuss bringing on new clients, maintaining client relationships and terminating engagements when appropriate through the eyes of risk management and claim mitigation.Presenter and Moderator Bios
John Raspante, CPA, MST, CSFA is NAPLIA’s Director of Risk Management. He oversees the industry specific expertise and risk management for NAPLIA’s accounting and financial clients. Mr. Raspante is the former Director of Compliance and Risk Management as well as the Director of Education for Graf Repetti & Co. LLP, Certified Public Accountants & Business Advisors. Prior to joining Graf Repetti, Mr. Raspante worked nine years for CAMICO Mutual Insurance Company, a provider of accountants’ professional liability insurance. Mr. Raspante’s primary responsibility at CAMICO was providing loss prevention services to the organization’s largest insureds. Mr. Raspante is a frequent speaker within the accounting profession on issues relating to risk management and professional ethics. He presents regularly at different conferences for accounting firm associations and CPA State Societies. He is a published author and contributor for accounting firm periodicals such as The Journal of Accountancy and Accounting Today.
Stephen Vono is a founding partner of NAPLIA and specializes in Accountants Professional Liability Insurance and Risk Management for accounting firms. Mr. Vono is active in several leading accounting associations and presents regularly at annual conferences on risk management topics aimed at lowering the exposure to litigation for accountants and CPA firms. He currently serves as President of the CPA Firm Management Association's Northeast Chapter, and is the recipient of CPAFMA’s Distinguished Service Presidential Citation for outstanding support and contributions to members of CPAFMA. Mr. Vono has written and published several articles on practice management for accounting firms including The Journal of Accountancy, Accounting Today and other accounting periodicals.

Delivery System
- All programs are delivered using the Zoom platform.
- Confirmations will include log-in instructions.
- Participants are able to participate using any device with an Internet connect (if the device does not have speakers, the participant can also dial-in) or they can participate with audio only by dialing in.
- All registrants will receive a link to the webinar’s recording by email within 48 business hours of event’s conclusion.
- There will be assistance available to help with technical and connectivity issues up to 10 minutes prior to the start of the presentation.
Registration
All registration is done on-line with the names and email addresses of each individual guest. Log-in details will be emailed to all registrants approximately 1-2 days prior to each session.
Refund Policy
CPAFMA will not issue refunds for webinars. If a registrant is unable to participate in the webinar and sends written notice to info@cpafma.org 48 hours prior to the session, a credit will be provided for a future webinar. Alert the CPAFMA staff member monitoring the webinar if technical difficulties are encountered and technical support will be provided to eliminate problems with future webinars.
Additional Information
Live participation is required for CPE credit and polling questions must be answered to show active participation. All registrants will receive an email following the session with links to the slides and/or handouts, and a link to the webinar recording (unless otherwise stated). If you are unable to participate in the live session, you can still watch the recorded session, but you will not be eligible for CPE credits.
