Course Description

Professional liability claims are generally consistent year to year and consistent amongst malpractice insurance carriers.

There are however, hidden exposures which if not identified and managed, can cause immense harm to CPA firms of all sizes. This one hour session will inform firm managers about those exposures and best practices to manage professional liability. Some of these risks crop up in unexpected places. Learn how to identify the pitfalls and how to avoid them from experts in the field. Stephen and John will also make time for Q&A at the end of the session. If you are in charge of insurance at your firm, you won’t want to miss this MAPCast!

Presenter and Moderator Bios
Stephen Vono, Principal is a founding partner of NAPLIA and has specialized in Accountants Professional Liability Insurance since 1996. Mr. Vono is active in several leading Accounting Associations and presents regularly at annual conferences for the Association of Accounting Administrators (AAA), and others. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Association for Accounting Administration North East Chapter. Mr. Vono has written and published several articles on practice management for accounting firms.

John Raspante is NAPLIA’s Director of Risk Management. He oversees the industry specific expertise for our accounting and financial clients. Mr. Raspante is the former Director of Compliance and Risk Management as well as the Director of Education for Graf Repetti & Co. LLP, Certified Public Accountants & Business Advisors. Prior to joining Graf Repetti, Mr. Raspante worked nine years for CAMICO Mutual Insurance Company. Mr. Raspante’s primary responsibility at CAMICO was providing loss prevention services to the organization’s largest insured’s. Mr. Raspante is a frequent author and speaker within the accounting profession on issues relating to risk management and professional ethics.

Delivery System

  • All programs are delivered using the Zoom platform.
  • Confirmations will include log-in instructions.
  • Participants are able to participate using any device with an Internet connect (if the device does not have speakers, the participant can also dial-in) or they can participate with audio only by dialing in.
  • All registrants will receive a link to the MAPCast’s recording by email within 48 business hours of event’s conclusion.
  • There will be assistance available to help with technical and connectivity issues up to 10 minutes prior to the start of the presentation.

Registration

All registration is done on-line with the names and email addresses of each individual guest. Log-in details will be emailed to all registrants approximately 1-2 days prior to each session.

Refund Policy

CPAFMA will not issue refunds for MAPCasts. If a registrant is unable to participate in the MAPCast and sends written notice to info@cpafma.org 48 hours prior to the session, a credit will be provided for a future MAPCast. Alert the CPAFMA staff member monitoring the MAPCast if technical difficulties are encountered and technical support will be provided to eliminate problems with future MAPCasts.

Additional Information

Live participation is required for CPE credit and polling questions must be answered to show active participation. All registrants will receive an email following the session with links to the slides and/or handouts, and a link to the MAPCast recording (unless otherwise stated). If you are unable to participate in the live session, you can still watch the recorded session, but you will not be eligible for CPE credits.
