Course Description

(Note: This MAPCast will now begin at 3:00PM EST)

Given the number of baby-boomer CPAs that will retire in the next 10 years, the shortage of management staff, the likely buyers' market that will evolve, it is critical that each firm have a succession plan that they start following immediately.

Developing and executing an effective succession action plan within your firm or business requires careful planning. It often involves identifying and preparing suitable employees through means of job rotation and training or through mentoring. It schedules and conducts periodic reviews by and of senior executives that are charged with addressing the firm's key positions and selecting those potential future leaders.

A solid plan of action will help ensure the least possible disruption to the individual's responsibilities and therefore strengthens the organization's effectiveness. It clearly carves out the factors to be taken into consideration and the process to be followed in retaining or replacing that person.
