Attendees will learn about document management and workflow challenges being faced by firms of all sizes; learn ways to leverage document management and workflow software to streamline workflow resulting in lean processes; learn how document management and workflow software fits into your firm and works with your existing software (tax, accounting and bookkeeping, etc.); and experience a product demonstration of software showcasing how practitioners gather, process, store and deliver digital documents using document management and workflow software.

Course Description

This one-hour course, Working Smarter with Document Management and Workflow explores a full suite of document management products with workflow and web portal capabilities. This course will teach attendees:

• how their incumbent systems (i.e. CaseWare, CCH, Thomson, QuickBooks, etc.) integrate into document;
• management through workflow processes;
• the benefit of firm-wide document naming and organization;
• how to scan, organize, publish, archive, and retain control of your firm's data;
• how to standardize workflow, use Work Binders, and store in digital archives; and
• how to leverage Web Portals, the Cloud and mobile access.

This course will showcase the new Doc.It Suite 4, a full suite of document management products for mid- to large size firms. This course will help accounting firm administrators, IT professionals, and partners better understand how to leverage technology to ensure their firm is more efficient and effective as they gather, process, store and deliver documents.

Presenter and Moderator Bios
Randolph P. (Randy) Johnston, MCS is the Chairman and CEO of Network Management Group, Inc. Randy has been a top rated speaker in the technology industry for over 30 years. He was inducted into the Accounting Hall of Fame in 2011. He was selected as a Top 25 Thought Leader in Accounting from 2011-2013. His influence throughout the accounting industry is highlighted once again this year by being a recipient of the 2013 Accounting Today Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting award for the tenth consecutive year. Among his many other awards he holds the honor of being one of nine technology stars in the U.S. by Accounting Technology Magazine. Randy writes a monthly column for The CPA Practice Advisor, articles for the Journal of Accountancy, and creates articles for both accounting and technology publications, as well as being the author of numerous books. He has started and owns multiple businesses including K2 Enterprises in Hammond, Louisiana and Network Management Group, Inc. in Hutchinson, Kansas. In 2010, NMGI announced their national support of CPA firms. His wife and four children enjoy many experiences together including theatre, music, travel, golf, skiing, snorkeling and model trains. Randy’s experience as a college instructor, management and technology consultant, and advisor to the industry will be obvious to you in today’s presentation.

Don Emery, CPA/CA is Doc.It’s Director of Client Solutions, reporting to the CEO. Don assists customers with various issues and provides implementation consulting services to clients. Don leads the North America business development team. Don joined Doc.It in 2009 as an Implementation Specialist and was named Director of Client Solutions in 2012. Prior to Doc.It from 1998 – 2009 Don worked for Streamline Information Systems Limited in a number of roles including President, Vice President of Services, Sales Territory Manager, and Manager of Finance and Administration. Don was instrumental in assisting the owners with selling the business in 2007. From 1993 – 1998 Don worked for JNE Consulting Limited in a number of roles including the head of finance, human resources, IT and property management branches of an engineering company with offices in multiple countries. Don was instrumental in supporting the growth of the organization from 35 to 255 employees during a 5-year period. Don has worked for the Government of Bermuda and the Regional Municipality of Hamilton Wentworth where he was a supervisor of payroll, pensions and benefit administration. Don also worked in an accounting firm from 1982 – 1987 where he was the supervisor of Audit Services.

Delivery System

  • All programs are delivered using the Zoom platform.
  • Confirmations will include log-in instructions.
  • Participants are able to participate using any device with an Internet connect (if the device does not have speakers, the participant can also dial-in) or they can participate with audio only by dialing in.
  • All registrants will receive a link to the MAPCast’s recording by email within 48 business hours of event’s conclusion.
  • There will be assistance available to help with technical and connectivity issues up to 10 minutes prior to the start of the presentation.

Registration

All registration is done on-line with the names and email addresses of each individual guest. Log-in details will be emailed to all registrants approximately 1-2 days prior to each session.

Refund Policy

CPAFMA will not issue refunds for MAPCasts. If a registrant is unable to participate in the MAPCast and sends written notice to info@cpafma.org 48 hours prior to the session, a credit will be provided for a future MAPCast. Alert the CPAFMA staff member monitoring the MAPCast if technical difficulties are encountered and technical support will be provided to eliminate problems with future MAPCasts.

Additional Information

Live participation is required for CPE credit and polling questions must be answered to show active participation. All registrants will receive an email following the session with links to the slides and/or handouts, and a link to the MAPCast recording (unless otherwise stated). If you are unable to participate in the live session, you can still watch the recorded session, but you will not be eligible for CPE credits.
