Course Description

Email is great, but not for sharing information and saving it over the long term. If you’ve been around AAA long enough, you’ll probably remember email list serves with more responses in line with “TAKE ME OFF THIS LIST!” vs. the answer you sought. Not because members did not want to help, they just did not want their email box inundated with responses. The evolution continued to Yahoo Groups and eventually to iCommunities, which was built on Microsoft Sharepoint. Kudos to Xcentric for developing and maintaining iCommunities for AAA since inception; however, the Sharepoint platform was not best suited to continue future development. Logins and search functionality have long been an issue. Those issues should be a thing of the past as the Association introduced Q&AAA, the new AAA discussion forums built on the vBulletin platform earlier this year.

We have included tips on how to get started in recent issues of AAAinsights and through email blasts but we thought it was time to host a one-hour MAPCast with detailed walk-thrus and answers to your questions. This session will cover such items as:

• How do I sign up for Q&AAA?
• Who is going to teach me how to use Q&AAA?
• What should I do first after I sign up for Q&AAA?
• Are all the posts on iCommunities going to be lost?
• I could never figure out how to upload attachments to iCommunities, is it easier on Q&AAA?
• Is the search functionality in Q&AAA better than iCommunities?
• Can I get email notifications like I do from iCommunities?
• Will there be separate forums for HR, IT, Marketing and Practice Management like iCommunities?

We have a tool that should satisfy our community needs for information sharing and networking. Please take time to register, introduce yourself and explore the site. There is much more functionality to the site like private messaging, AAA event calendar, blogs and photo repositories (to share event photos, for example), but we will talk about that more during this introductory MAPCast.
